Scott Wave // Fast Action All-Water

SO EASY. JUST ADD WATER

A feeling of near weightlessness in hand. Authoritatively powerful. Undoubtedly in control. Plain fun to fish.

Wave rods bring together high line speed, exceptional loop control, and point-it-and-it goes-there accuracy. They feel light and lively in hand and respond intuitively to input from the angler.

Wave rods easily handle a wide range of line densities and fly sizes, making them ideal tools for pursuing powerful fish in all fresh and saltwater environments. And when that pursuit turns into a hook up, Wave rods have lifting power to spare, helping keep fish out of structure or the depths.

Equally at home slam fishing the flats, casting fast sinking lines for stripers, or chasing carp and bass at the local park, Wave rods deliver high performance across a wide variety of fishing situations.

Scott Wave Features:

  • ReAct: ReAct technology combines our X-Core design with a new complex materials and taper system to create a break-through in fast action rod design. Distance, control and accuracy are compromised by waves that vibrate in the rod, even after the cast has been made. Simply making the rod stiffer to stop these vibrations kills feel. ReAct counteracts energy sapping vibrations by speeding the recovery of the blank without the need to stiffen the rod with more material. This puts the feel in fast. And that’s a really good thing.
  • X-Core: Enhanced feel, incredible stability and unequalled performance. X-Core combines the industry’s leading composite technologies with cutting edge design.

Diameter is proportional to stiffness and strength, and X-Core, or Expanded Core, technology delivers blanks that transmit feel and maintain stability better than any other design approach.

We use fast taper mandrels with low-mass, thin-walled blanks and proprietary ARC reinforcement to create rods that have stiffness with feel, and stability with sensitivity.

This design helps the rod come alive in your hands. It’s a superior approach to the slow taper, thick walled designs that deliver stiffness at the expense of feel.
  • Multi Modulus: Fine-tuned flex and recovery.

Scott pioneered the use of multi modulus fiber lay ups in blank design.

By varying the fiber tensile modulus along the length of the rod, we’re able to precisely control the stiffness and recovery speed of our blanks. The result is a rod that loads and unloads more smoothly.
  • ARC: Advanced Reinforced Carbon reduces torque and increases strength.

Scott is the leader in carbon blank reinforcements. Our latest ARC technology adds hoop strength to our blanks without adding weight, and counteracts torque that can reduce casting accuracy and line control.
  • Fiberfuse Resin: Our all new FiberFuse enhanced resin system uses new chemistry to create bonds between each graphite fiber that are over 20% stronger than conventional epoxy resins.
  • Natural Finish: Walk down a rod rack at your local fly shop and you'll notice something different about Scott rods. Like everything we do, the Scott Natural Finish is all about making your rod lighter, more durable, and better performing.

Most other rods on the shelf are run through a belt sander, tearing away the outside power fibers of the blank and introducing variance. Inadvertent flatspotting during the sanding process will weaken a blank, and blanks are designed with a margin of error to accommodate for oversanding. After the blank is sanded, a glossy paint is applied to add shelf appeal.

Natural finish blanks aren't subjected to the rip through the sanding belt, nor are they covered with heavy paint to add pop in your fly shop. We're firm believers in the natural beauty of graphite. A natural finish blank is built to exacting tolerances. Scott's advanced resin systems permeate the blank, leaving a durable finish that will stand up to years of abuse.

Model Breakdown:

  • 9064 - 9' 0" 6wt 4 Piece: Light and quick, this is the perfect rod for bass, carp, trout on streamers, and any other species that look for meaty meals
    • Grain Weight Range: 160-180
  • 9074 - 9' 0" 7wt 4 Piece: Our favorite rod when conditions allow for a lighter rod. Super tight loops and high line speed make this ideal for tailing bonefish and redfish. It's also a great rod for taming small mouth.
    • Grain Weight Range: 185-205
  • 9084 - 9' 0" 8wt 4 Piece: The do it all work horse in the Wave series. This rod casts like a dream, handles a wide range of fly sizes and can cover most salt and fresh water duties with ease
    • Grain Weight Range: 210-230
  • 9094 - 9' 0" 9wt 4 Piece: From permit to pike, this rod handles big flies, big fish, and big wind. Incredibly light in hand with power to spare, this is a serious high performance 9 weight
    • Grain Weight Range: 240-275
  • 90104 - 9' 0" 10wt 4 Piece: A perfect rod for stripers, mahi, roosters, musky, and other species that will bend lesser rods into pretzels. Easy to cast but has great lifting power, bringing together two qualities that usually don't go together.
    • Grain Weight Range: 275-325
  • 90114 - 9' 0 " 11wt 4 Piece: When you need a rod to test the outer limits of fly tackle, this is it. Tarpon, musky, or sailfish, this rod casts tight loops, cuts through the wind, and can lift a cinder block.
    • Grain Weight Range: 330-360
  • 90124 - 9' 0" 12wt 4 Piece: This is the big one in the series but it's no rug beater. For the most powerful rod in the line up, it still feels light and lively in hand and is surprisingly easy to cast. If you're crazy enough to chase tuna, billfish, GT's and other tackle destroying fish on flies, this is your rod.
    • Grain Weight Range: 375-450
