Anglers that are fishing lightweight spey flies for salmon and steelhead on rivers prefer a scandi shooting head. They fly through the air well and provide a natural presentation to fish and big distance.
They are a bit tricker to cast than Skagit heads, but deliver a fly with grace and make a natural presentation. Most of these lines require use of a running line as well.
Scandi style casts include the Snake Roll, Double Spey, and Single Spey. You can also do a Snap T but the Snake Roll is the most efficient Scandi style cast for most anglers.
