Trout in lakes feed primarily on aquatic insects with leeches being their staple. Anglers should always have a variety of leeches in various sizes and colors with a HIGH QUALITY Wooley Bugger being the key ingredient. Midge, Calibaetis Mayflies, Dragon Fly Nymphs, and Damsel fly nymphs are also important food sources for trout. In high mountain lakes make sure to have small Beetles and Ants! High elevation lakes don't have rich aquatic food sources like their low elevation counterparts.
