RIO's Morrish Pom Skater 2.0 // Steelhead skater

RIO's Morrish Pom Skater 2.0
The original Pompadour Skater had been one of the most effective steelhead skaters for the past two decades. One of the keys to its success was a large buoyant head and slender low-riding, rear body. These design elements combined with an absence of large wings or bushy hackles made a fly that was rather “sticky” on the water’s surface. This means when a fish charged it, the water they displaced didn't push the fly away leading to a missed eat. Best yet, the Pom always skated well and rarely dipped under or twisted. The original was tied on an old-school heavy wire TMC hook and when that hook was discontinued, so too was mass production of the fly. With that said, people still wanted the fly so I re-created it on a nice, new Ahrex hook, added a sighter, a few hot spots, and black and blue version that will likely become the best-selling color.
