Campeche might be the world's top destination for juvenilleTarpon. An abundant population of Tarpon offers multiple fish days, plenty of jumps, and it's all on floating lines with small easy to cast flies. Anglers prefer nice light 9 weight rods and it's great fun. Our hosted trips offer complete trip planning from booking to airport transfers, and fishing alongside our guests.
Flights are easy to plan in/out of Merida, MX (MID) and originate out of Dallas, Houston, or Miami. American Airlines and United Airlines have daily services.

View full detailsTarpon Town Fly Fishing operates out of the city of Campeche, Mexico. It's a long established outfitter focused on Tarpon. The waters surrounding Campeche are known as The Tarpon Coast, Tarpon Route, and Bahia del Sabalo (Bay of the Tarpon), and features nearly 100 miles of mangrove coast, hundreds of creeks, and sea-grass flats, making this geographic region ideal for producing big numbers of resident Tarpon.
Campeche is a cool town. It's much smaller and quieter than Cancun, but still offers some interesting tourist activities and is rich in both Mayan and Spanish history. Our itinerary offers flexibility for guests to dine as a group each night at a different restaurant and sample the local flavor and scenery.
The fishing setup is flats style sight fishing for big numbers of hungry tarpon in the 5 to 40 pound class. These fish are aggressive and it makes excellent fishing for beginning saltwater anglers. You'll get enough shots that if you screw it up.... don't worry! Another opportunity will swim your way in short order.

Single anglers are always welcome on our worldwide hosted fly fishing trips, and we take great care in pairing guests to ensure a fun and rewarding experience. We’ll match you with a roommate and assign you a fishing partner for each day on the water, sometimes keeping pairs consistent and other times rotating to give everyone a well-rounded experience. Many solo travelers join our trips because we have a strong track record of fostering a great group dynamic, mixing anglers and guides to create an enjoyable atmosphere for all. While we strive to accommodate individual preferences, flexibility is key, as our primary goal is to rotate guide assignments and maximize opportunities for every guest. We simply ask our single anglers to embrace the adventure, go with the flow, and enjoy the incredible fishing!
A Red's team member will travel with you and help make your experience the most efficient, rewarding, and best adventure we can. We're there to aid the lodge in coordinating ground transfers, assigning guides, meeting angler expectations, and helping problem solve should any challenges arise. Your host will mentor as necessary, work with the lodge's head guide to coordinate guide pairings, and make group wide decisions that best serve all Red's customers.
There is most often internet access, and we have an emergency contact number that you could be reached at if need be. Cell phones do not work down there. Just as well. If you absolutely need to stay in reach, bring a satellite messenger or phone.
We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, and we want to be as flexible as possible while ensuring our trips run smoothly. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking, with final payment due 90 days before departure. For trips scheduled within 90 days of departure, full payment is required at the time of booking. If you need to cancel, we will do everything in our power to rebook the trip to full capacity. If we are successful, we will gladly issue you a refund minus a $100 administrative fee. Additionally, if your plans change more than 90 days before departure, you have the option to reschedule your trip for a future date, subject to a $100 administrative fee. Our goal is to make your experience as stress-free as possible, and we’ll do our very best to assist you in the event of any changes.
