Maybe you want to try fly fishing.... but you prefer to do it with the girls. It's just so much fun that way! Plus you'll get the opportunity to connect with a community that can help you find success beyond the basics.
Our Women's Intro Program is headed up by several enthusiastic women, anxious to help you find success. They LOVE helping women become successful regardless of the activity.
Women's Intro to Fly Fishing Program
At Red’s, we believe learning to fly fish should be fun, approachable, and stress-free. Our instructors take a lighthearted but invested approach, making sure every class—especially our Women’s Intro Course—is engaging, effective, and confidence-building. If you’re not having fun, you’re not learning, and that’s not how we do things.
For us, teaching beginners is a passion, not just a job. Whether you join us for a single day or a full weekend, we’re committed to giving you the best possible start in fly fishing. And if you love it? Take the next step with Red’s University of Fly Fishing, where you can expand your skills, explore different seasons, and become the kind of angler who confidently fishes anywhere in the West.
Ready to get started? Join us and let’s fish!
The Women's Intro courses are taught here at Red's Fly Shop along the banks of the Yakima River. These are land based courses so students don't need any of their own gear to participate, we have you covered. It's a comfortable environment with espresso available at check-in.
Our intro course has a strong emphasis on learning to fly cast. It's the most fun and some might even say addictive! You'll learn a bit about where trout live and how to tie on a fly.

After the Intro Course, your fly fishing adventures are just getting started! We invite you to explore Divide & Conquer outings, Trout Taxi trips, and guided adventures led by our expert female instructors and guides. These experiences are designed to build confidence, expand your skills, and connect you with other passionate anglers. Whether it’s DIY-style outings with support, boat-based fishing, or fully guided experiences, we have something for every skill level and interest.
Check our Women’s Calendar of Events often, and let us know what you’d love to learn or where you want to fish. Our guide gals have favorite fisheries they love to share, and we can set up trips tailored to your goals and preferences. Whether it’s a local river adventure, a scenic float, or a deep dive into new techniques, we’re here to make it happen. Let’s keep your fly fishing journey going!
