Throughout the fishing week, the mother ship will move each day. This means that anglers fish new water constantly. And, with more than six hundred miles of exclusive waters, there is plenty of room to explore new lagoons, tributaries, and stretches of the river feeling like you are always in new waters.
Most all of the Amazon basin has Peacock Bass. This includes the countries of Brazil, Colombia, Guyana and Ecuador. And although big fish can sometimes be encountered in all these destinations, nowhere in the world are more big Peacocks caught than the Rio Marie. Since 2015 they have amassed fifteen world records, and in the past three consecutive years have landed the largest Peacock Bass in the all-tackle category; but all caught on the fly.
The lodge is actually a live-aboard boat named the Untamed Amazon. Guest stay 2 per room, all of which are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, filtered water, and a/c. The boat has several decks, equipped for gear storage, social areas, dining room and jacuzzis. Drinks and food are served in the common area, dining room, and sometimes on a nearby beach.
Clients fish 6 days on the Rio Marie, its tributaries, and the many lagoons which attach to it. The mother-ship moves each day so new water is constantly explored. Peacock Bass are the main quarry, and more trophy fish exceeding 20 pounds are found here than anywhere.
Anglers fish two per boat, and are accompanied by an English-speaking guide and native boatman. The boats are twenty feet in length, with casting decks fore and aft allowing for two anglers to fish at once. Anglers will fish throughout the water column depending upon the conditions and time of day. This might mean large poppers in the early morning and evening, and large streamers presented on intermediate sink-tips throughout the day. The lodge provides all hard tackle, although guests are welcome to bring their own.

Single anglers are always welcome on our worldwide hosted fly fishing trips, and we take great care in pairing guests to ensure a fun and rewarding experience. We’ll match you with a roommate and assign you a fishing partner for each day on the water, sometimes keeping pairs consistent and other times rotating to give everyone a well-rounded experience. Many solo travelers join our trips because we have a strong track record of fostering a great group dynamic, mixing anglers and guides to create an enjoyable atmosphere for all. While we strive to accommodate individual preferences, flexibility is key, as our primary goal is to rotate guide assignments and maximize opportunities for every guest. We simply ask our single anglers to embrace the adventure, go with the flow, and enjoy the incredible fishing!

“From the quiet morning boat runs through mist-covered jungle channels to the full‑adrenaline battles with heavyweight peacock bass that tore across the flats, every aspect of the Rio Marié experience blended raw adventure with luxurious hospitality, leaving me with a deep appreciation for the guides, the fishery, and the rare feeling of being part of something truly special and wild,
