Nestled in the heart of south central Washington State, the Klickitat River is a premier destination for steelhead anglers Originating from the glaciers of Mount Adams, this river winds through rugged canyons and pristine forests before joining the Columbia River. Known for its consistent runs of summer steelhead and salmon, the Klickitat offers an unparalleled experience for anglers of all skill levels. Our guided fly fishing trips provide you with expert knowledge, personalized instruction, and access to some of the river's most productive runs. Whether you're casting for your first steelhead encounter, or a seasoned spey vet, you'll be surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Pacific Northwest, making every moment on the water unforgettable. Join our friendly and highly capable staff for an unrivaled guided experience.
To fully appreciate all the majesty the Klickitat River has to offer, you really need to be here for enough time to experience it all. With more than 40 miles of scenic steelhead water, you simply can't see it all in a day. We have been offering multi-day trips on the Klickitat since 2006 and these are the trips our long-time customers prefer. It just makes sense.
You will arrive at the Mt. Adams Lodge property the night before your first day of guided fishing. This is a fun evening. You need to arrive by 6 pm and a wonderful spread of appetizers, dinner, and dessert will be awaiting your group. If you get there early it's a perfect chance to settle in, enjoy the mountain view, have a drink, or maybe a cigar outside in one of the lounge chairs.
Fishing starts early with 8+ hours on the water each day, and each fishing day includes a hearty breakfast, strong coffee, and lunch on the water. Dinners are included upon arrival, but not on the evening of departure.
Whether you are a local angler sneaking in a quickie or a traveler coming from the east coast to fish 4-5 days, we accomodate varying trip lengths. We always encourage you to fish multiple days to help insure you get a window of optimal conditions.

Our Klickitat River trips are hosted in fiberglass drift boats and we float anywhere from 5-12 miles per day with (2) anglers per boat. The float is scenic and wild. Our guides are skilled in multiple strategies with all possessing advanced spey skills. For non spey guests are guides will will row hard and work with guests to find fish using strike indicator rigs out of the boat as well. Dead drifting a large Stonefly nymph and/or an egg pattern is the most productive technique for our guests.
Spey fisherman should try to come prepared with some casting skills prior to the trip in order to make best use of their adventure. We like 6-7 weight two-handed rods, and 7-8 weight single handed rods for this trip. The swing anglers using spey rods will prefer Skagit heads and 10' of T-8 or T-11 sink tips (most commonly). We seldom catch fish on floating lines.
We are unapologetic about proclaiming the prowess and professionalism of our fly shop staff and guides. Between our shop staff and subcontractor guides we have approximately 30 team members. Their blend of ambition, competitiveness, kindness, fishing skill, work ethic, and patience are like no crew we've ever seen. Our staff is the ultimate team. This means teaching each other, sharing secret fly patterns, insider fishing reports, and helping our other guides on the river get into more fish.
Red's has been at this for a long time and putting together a franchise like this was no accident. We look for talent, character, unique skills, and a strong sense of "customer first" attitude. We're here to serve the customer. That's our mission.
