Max grew up in Roslyn, WA, making him a local with deep roots in the area. His journey into fly fishing began at the age of 7 when his dad first taught him to cast on their front lawn. Those early lessons turned into a lifelong passion, further fueled by unforgettable days spent fishing the Cle Elum and Yakima Rivers with his dad. Whether casting lines or snorkeling in the clear waters, those moments were all about exploration, laughter, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Professionally, Max first guided on the Wenatchee River after completing a guide training program during his university days. Today, he spends most of his time guiding on the Yakima River, with additional experience on the Klickitat, the Naches, and Columbia Basin waters. Max loves exploring different techniques to keep the sport exciting, whether it’s small dry fly fishing, throwing streamers, or perfecting bobber techniques.

For beginners, Max offers this advice: “Take your time on the back cast, be patient with yourself, and remember—it’s about the journey, not just the catch.” His go-to flies are the Pat’s Rubber Leg and the Sparkle Minnow, reliable patterns that deliver in any fishing conditions.
