Rick Davidson—aka “Ricky Bobbers”—got his start fly casting in the yard with his dad at age four. Originally from Issaquah, WA, he now lives in Ellensburg and has been guiding for over 16 years, starting on the Yakima River. Rick has guided across the Northwest, from the Klickitat and Hoh to the Blackfoot and Missouri, bringing a deep well of experience and a calm, confident presence to every trip.
His favorite species to chase are Steelhead and Permit, with standout memories like his first skated steelhead and his first Permit in Espiritu Santo Bay. Rick’s passion lies in technical dry fly fishing for trout and swinging flies for anadromous fish—both requiring patience and precision. He’s not after numbers alone—he’s focused on creating meaningful moments and helping guests refine their craft.

Rick’s best advice? “Don’t overthink it. Start with the basics and fish with guides you connect with.” He hopes guests walk away having learned something—no matter how many fish were hooked. A Pat’s Stone is always in his box, and if he could sit down with anyone for dinner, it’d be Tiger Woods—another man who knows a thing or two about precision and pressure.
When he’s not guiding, Rick’s often on the golf course chasing another personal best. “No excuses,” he says, appreciating the parallels between golf and fly fishing—both humbling and honest games. At home, he shares life with his wife KynsLee Scott and their cat Leo, a rescue from Glenwood, WA, with a wild streak and a soft side.
His ideal client is someone who’s mastered the basics and is eager to level up. “I love taking a decent angler and turning them into a killer.” Whether he’s floating familiar water or exploring new runs, Rick shows up with energy, hard work, and an eye for reading water that sets guests up for success.
"Fishing the Naches with Rick was one of the most enjoyable days I’ve ever had on a trout stream. His ability to read water is next-level, but what really stood out was his patience. I missed fish, tangled leaders, and second-guessed every cast—and Rick just laughed, gave a few pointers, and kept me in the game. By afternoon, I was picking pockets and hooking wild trout like I’d been doing it for years."
– Mike T., Tacoma, WA
"Rick is the kind of guide who makes you better without making you feel like you’re being coached. On the Yakima, he helped me refine my drift and showed me how to fish foam lines I would’ve walked right past. I learned more in a single float than I have in years of DIY fishing. Also—his laugh is infectious. Even when I blew the hookset of the day, we were both grinning."
– Lindsey S., Portland, OR
"There’s something special about fishing the Klickitat with Rick. He knows every rock, seam, and swing run, but he also knows how to manage expectations with grace. We put in the work and I finally connected with my first steelhead on the swing—a moment I’ll never forget. Rick’s blend of intensity and easygoing humor made the whole trip feel like I was fishing with an old friend."
– Jason K., Bozeman, MT
"If you get the chance to fish the Klickitat with Ricky Bobbers, don’t pass it up. He’s dialed, he’s driven, and he’s got the patience of a saint. We covered miles of water, adjusted tactics, and when the grab finally came—he was right there hooting louder than I was. It’s clear he loves that river, and he makes you love it too."
– Erica M., Seattle, WA
