Meet NOAH "DEEP V" MEYER

Noah Meyer, better known as "Deep V", grew up in Spokane, Washington, and now calls Ellensburg home—living in a neighborhood full of fishing guides. His fly fishing journey started with a self-taught cast in the backyard using an oversized 8-weight with a mystery line from Walmart. But what really hooked him was fishing lakes in the Colville National Forest, watching trout crush dry fly damsel imitations. That moment sparked a lifelong passion for fly fishing that eventually led him to guiding on the Yakima, Naches, and Klickitat Rivers.

"Fly fishing is a journey, not a race. The more you focus on doing things right—casting, presentation, reading water—the more the fish start to take care of themselves. Patience and persistence will get you further than anything else."

– Noah Meyer @ Red's Fly Shop

HIS LOVE FOR TYING

HIS LOVE FOR TYING

Noah is passionate about spey and dry fly fishing, though when the dries aren’t happening, he’s happy to fill the gaps with indicator nymphing. On his rare days off, you’ll find him swinging for steelhead or tying flies—particularly steelhead patterns. His ideal client is someone who understands that fly fishing is a journey, where learning to do things right pays off in the long run. Patience is the one thing he preaches to beginners, believing that those who take the time to refine their skills will find fishing gets easier and more rewarding.

MORE ABOUT NOAH

MORE ABOUT NOAH

A former traveling horse polo player, Noah is full of surprises, but one thing’s certain—he's always experimenting and refining his craft. His dream trip is the Dean River in British Columbia, flying in via helicopter for the ultimate steelhead adventure. While he doesn’t have a dog of his own, he’s happy to pet everyone else’s. When he’s not fishing, tying flies, or listening to Greta Van Fleet before a day on the water, he’s probably cracking up at a Burt Kreischer comedy special. Looking for a solid trout fly? He’ll tell you Pat’s Rubber Leg isn’t flashy, but it gets the job done. His goal as a guide? To create the same highs in fly fishing for his guests that have made him love this sport so much.

Noah Meyer Testimonials

"Noah was incredibly patient with the first-time fly fisherman in our boat, and thanks to his thoughtful coaching, our beginner was casting proficiently in no time. Despite a tough bite, Noah worked hard—changing flies and techniques to give us the best shot at success. On top of that, he’s a great conversationalist and an all-around impressive young man. We really enjoyed spending the day on the water with him."

“I’m brand new to fly fishing, and Noah was a fantastic instructor. He was incredibly knowledgeable, took his time with me, and stayed positive and encouraging throughout the lesson. Roll casting was the highlight, and I walked away with skills I’ll actually use on the water. The Red’s team was great too—someone suggested we move our lesson earlier because of wind, and it was definitely the right call. I’d absolutely recommend this class and Noah to anyone looking to learn!”

“Room to grow, but a good guy to be in the boat with.”

Noah was friendly and knowledgeable, and while there were a few missed opportunities on the water, he stayed upbeat and approachable. With some more time and experience, I think he’s going to be a great guide. He’s already well on his way.
