Danny Robles, better known as "Danny Boy," grew up in Littleton, Colorado, where his grandfather, Gil, first introduced him to fly fishing on the South Platte River. That early experience sparked a lifelong passion, solidified when he landed his first 20-inch trout on a #16 Sparkle Dun—an unforgettable moment that hooked him for life. He later moved to Ellensburg, Washington, to attend Central Washington University, where he quickly found himself immersed in the region’s world-class fly fishing and upland hunting scene.
– Danny Robles @ Red's Fly Shop
Though Danny isn’t currently guiding fly fishing, he plays a key role at Red’s as one of our lead sporting clays instructors, teaching basic to intermediate wingshooting. When he’s not coaching shooters, you’ll find him bird hunting, ice fishing, or on the golf course. He’s a passionate spey caster, loves chasing steelhead on his days off, and has big plans to guide on the Yakima River in the future. He even won a staff competition for ambidextrous casting, proving he can throw tight loops with either hand.
For Danny, enthusiasm is contagious—whether on the shooting range or the river. His ideal client is someone who’s just as excited to learn as he is to teach. His top advice for beginners? Ask questions and communicate your goals—it’s the key to getting the most out of any guided experience. His dream trip is swinging flies for steelhead on British Columbia’s legendary Dean River, and while he’s currently dating Annie (sorry, ladies), his chocolate lab, Dusty, holds things down back home in Colorado. Whether he’s coaching a shooter to their first broken clay or an angler to their best cast, Danny is all about helping people build confidence and pursue their passions with energy and excitement.
