DALLAS MURREY

FISHING SCHEDULE & HUNTING MANAGER
Meet Dallas Murrey

Meet Dallas Murrey

Dallas Murrey grew up in Federal Way, Washington, but made Ellensburg home after moving there for college in 2012. He met his wife not long after arriving and never looked back. “I’m not originally from here,” Dallas says, “but my kids will be—and that means something.” These days, when he’s not behind the counter at Red’s helping orchestrate chaos into organized adventure, you’ll find him chasing chukar, scouting for elk, or exploring deep into the hills with a pair of bird dogs and a backpack.

Dallas doesn’t guide fishing trips himself, but don’t let that fool you—he’s one of the most important gears in the machine. His knack for logistics and pulling trips together “out of thin air” has become something of a Red’s legend. He refers to it as his guide “superpower,” and if you’ve ever had a last-minute booking somehow materialize into a perfect day on the water, chances are Dallas had a hand in it.

“Whether we’re chasing birds or big fish, Red’s gives you the right tools and the right crew to make it happen. I’m just here to make sure you’ve got a full tank, a good dog, and a damn good reason to come back.”

Dallas Murrey Guided Hunts

"I've hunted upland birds all over the West, but a day with Dallas, Moose, and Raider stands out. His dogs are machines in the field—relentless but steady—and Dallas has an uncanny ability to read the terrain and get you in front of birds. We came for chukar, and we left with stories we'll tell for years."

Brian H., Spokane, WA

"Dallas runs a tight ship but keeps things fun. I brought my teenage son for his first upland hunt, and between the great dog work and Dallas’ patience, we were into birds fast. Watching Moose lock up and Raider honor that point was something special. We’ll be back, no question."

Jennifer M., Bend, OR

"You haven’t really hunted chukar until you’ve done it with Dallas. The climbs are brutal, the views are unreal, and the birds? They don’t stand a chance with Moose and Raider covering the ground. One of the most rewarding hunts I’ve ever been on."

Zach P., Boise, ID

"I booked this hunt not knowing what to expect, and left feeling like I’d been hunting with an old buddy. Dallas knows birds, he knows dogs, and he knows how to make a guest feel like part of the crew. Watching his pointers work was a master class in dog handling."

Erin C., Missoula, MT

"Some guides just run dogs and shoot birds. Dallas builds the whole experience. He talked habitat, bird behavior, and even shotgun fit. Moose and Raider were dialed in from the first covey to the last. Best upland hunt I’ve had—and I’ve had a few."

Mark D., Wenatchee, WA

THE BEST GUIDE CREW ON EARTH!

THE BEST GUIDE CREW ON EARTH!

While he leaves the fly fishing instruction to the team of expert guides, Dallas is no stranger to the sport. He learned to cast from a buddy in college in their backyard, and his personal preference leans toward bass fishing and small mountain creeks. “I love being in the mountains,” he says. “If I can fish and be in the backcountry at the same time, I’m in my happy place.” One of his favorite recent memories was landing baby tarpon in Campeche, Mexico—a trip that now competes with Patagonia as his dream destination.

When he’s not planning hunts or helping customers line out their trips, Dallas is likely out with Moose and Raider—his English Setter and Pointer—hunting birds or exploring country few others tread. He's also a proud dad to Hazel and Graham and has been married to his wife for over seven years. His ideal client? “One that can shoot,” he laughs, but it’s clear his real joy is helping people get deeper into the outdoors, whether it's through gear, guidance, or gritty motivation.

WANNA CATCH A LOT OF FISH? GET IN OUR UNIVERSITY

If there’s one piece of advice Dallas would give to a beginner, it’s simple: “Get your ass in our University and thank me later.” Whether it’s fly fishing, upland hunting, or just learning how to gear up for the wild, Dallas is the guy who can help get you there—with a little humor, a lot of hustle, and probably a country song playing in the background.
