Robert Miller, known as Bobby or Bob, manages Red's Fly Shop, overseeing daily operations, assisting customers on the retail floor, and coordinating guided trips and hunts. Bobby's journey into fly fishing began as an apprentice guide at Bristol Bay Lodge in Alaska, where he was mentored by the renowned outdoor artist Bob White. His first fly casting lesson came just before the season started, and his first catch—a lively Arctic char—ended with a broken rod but an unforgettable memory.

Bobby's favorite fly fishing memory is catching big rainbows on a rare day off in Alaska, a moment that cemented his confidence as an angler. Passionate about spey fishing for steelhead and catching small trout with dry flies, Bobby also enjoys upland and duck hunting, hiking, and exploring small creeks. A surprising skill he’s honed is baking, which his family and friends surely appreciate.
Bobby’s go-to trout fly is the Spanish Bullet, and if he could share dinner and a fishing tale with anyone, it would be Ernest Hemingway after a day on the water.
Originally from Marine on the banks of the Saint Croix River in Minnesota, Bobby now calls Selah, Washington, home, where he lives with his wife Sarah and their two daughters, Eleanor and Amelia.
His dream trip? A Golden Dorado adventure in South America. Bobby’s #1 piece of advice for beginners is to not take themselves too seriously—relax and enjoy your time on the water. He ensures every guest at Red’s feels well-outfitted and better prepared, leaving with both the right gear and valuable knowledge.
