Christmas Island Lodge Dates

Christmas Island Lodge elevates the experience with exceptional hospitality and a one‑of‑a‑kind coastal setting. Guests fall asleep to the sound of waves breaking on the reef and enjoy a steady ocean breeze during happy hour and mealtime. Its strategic location also means a shorter drive to the renowned Korean Wreck and quick backcountry access by truck, giving anglers more time on the water and more opportunities throughout the week.

Set far out in the central Pacific, this isolated atoll has earned a legendary reputation among saltwater anglers. Its vast flats and endless horizon create one of the most dynamic wade‑fishing environments in the world, offering genuine sight‑fishing opportunities for Bonefish along with exciting shots at Giant Trevally, Bluefin Trevally, Golden Trevally, Triggerfish, and more. Anglers looking to expand the adventure can head offshore, where Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin, Sailfish, Skipjack, and other blue‑water species are all in play.

With friendly guides, prime access to productive water, and warm island culture at its core, Christmas Island Lodge remains an ideal home base for anglers pursuing their saltwater goals on one of the world’s most unique fisheries.

Christmas Island Lodge Hosted Trips

A Special Destination

The great Lefty Kreh has described Christmas Island as "the best Bonefish fishing on the planet..." Come decide for yourself. This is one of the most famous fly fishing destinations in the world and this is your chance to sign up for this trip with a host that is going to travel alongside you for the entire week.

Anglers will spend most of their time stalking Bonefish, with Giant Trevally or "GT's" being the trophy species. GT's are amazing fish, and catching a fast cruiser on the open flats that is spotted and sight cast to is a very special catch. You will never forget it.

On our trips we don't use chum to lure the fish in close. We work hard and try to catch these brutes "fair chase". Catch numbers of these beasts are not high and we want to keep expectations realistic for every angler that comes along. All anglers will get shots at big GT's while wading the flats. Not everyone will get one however... but when you do it's a big party that night! We celebrate the victories together.

"Stalking the flats on Christmas Island is the closest thing to hunting I've found with a fly rod in hand."

SINGLE ANGLERS WELCOME

Single anglers are always welcome on our worldwide hosted fly fishing trips, and we take great care in pairing guests to ensure a fun and rewarding experience. We’ll match you with a roommate and assign you a fishing partner for each day on the water, sometimes keeping pairs consistent and other times rotating to give everyone a well-rounded experience. Many solo travelers join our trips because we have a strong track record of fostering a great group dynamic, mixing anglers and guides to create an enjoyable atmosphere for all. While we strive to accommodate individual preferences, flexibility is key, as our primary goal is to rotate guide assignments and maximize opportunities for every guest. We simply ask our single anglers to embrace the adventure, go with the flow, and enjoy the incredible fishing!

Testimonials

"The fishing was incredible, but one of our favorite memories happened after we got off the water. The local dance performance put on by the island residents was authentic, energetic, and genuinely moving. It felt like a real cultural experience rather than something staged for tourists. We appreciated every minute of it. As for the fishing, having a Red's host was invaluable. They helped everyone stay organized, solved problems before they became problems, and made us feel confident from arrival to departure. We can't imagine doing a destination trip like this without a host now."

Mike and Karen W.

"I've done a handful of hosted fly fishing trips around the world, and after this week at Christmas Island Lodge, I'm convinced a dedicated host is a must-have. Our host was constantly answering questions, helping us prepare for each day, checking in on everyone, and making sure nothing slipped through the cracks. Knowing there was one person ultimately paying attention to the whole group made the trip dramatically less stressful. I learned more, fished better, and got far more out of the experience because of it."

Mark T.

"The guides at Christmas Island Lodge are younger than at the other lodges I've been to here, but don't mistake that for inexperience. Those guys are sharp, hardworking, and incredibly professional. They see fish at impossible distances, communicate well, and hustle all day long. Give that team another couple seasons and they'll be an absolute all-star crew. Having a host in camp every day was also huge. There was always someone available to help with gear, answer questions, or offer advice based on how everyone was fishing."

Jason L.

"My fish of the trip was a GT that had to be pushing 40 pounds, and honestly, it was blind luck. I was happily bonefishing when this giant shadow came cruising through the flat. Thankfully my guide was carrying the GT rod and basically shoved it into my hands while barking instructions. A few heart-pounding minutes later we somehow landed that fish. That's the kind of moment you'll never forget. Everything from the logistics to the fishing felt easy because licenses, drinks, beer, and all the little details were already rolled into the price. We just showed up and enjoyed the trip."

Dave R.

"The triggerfish alone were worth the trip. I'd heard people call them the toughest fish on the flats, but I didn't appreciate just how addictive they are until I watched one tip up on my fly and take off like a runaway truck. The hosted format was fantastic because every evening we had someone helping us fine-tune flies, leaders, and presentations for the next day. It removed so much guesswork and made the whole experience feel relaxed and fun."
