KYNSLEE SCOTT

STEELHEAD PROGRAM & TYING MANAGER, GUIDE
Meet Kynslee Scott

Meet Kynslee Scott

KynsLee Scott is one of the keystones of the Red’s Fly Shop guide and lodge team—a highly skilled, deeply experienced fly‑fishing professional who now manages the Klickitat River Steelhead Lodge program, oversees the tying department, and works full‑time at Red’s Fly Shop. Having grown up in Helena, Montana, she brings the authenticity and hard‑earned perspective of someone who has been immersed in western rivers her entire life. Her presence at the Mount Adams Lodge is more than managerial—she is central to the guest experience, ensuring every visitor is welcomed, fed, prepared, and fully supported before they ever step into a boat.

Her journey into professional guiding began early. Just out of high school, she started guiding on her home water—the Missouri River outside Craig, MT—before moving to Missoula to attend the University of Montana and guiding across the state for more than 15 seasons. The combination of her Montana roots, her travels guiding throughout Washington and Oregon, and the personal warmth she brings to the job make her a unique force at Red’s. Today, she channels all of that experience into the Klickitat program, where she runs an operation built on hospitality, great instruction, and a deep respect for wild fish and rivers.

“Kynslee kept the whole week running flawlessly—from lining up the guides to cooking incredible meals—and somehow made the entire Klickitat experience feel effortless and unforgettable.”

– Andrew L. Tigard, OR

Kynslee's Customer Testimonials

"I met Kynslee in the shop while looking for dubbing and hooks, and within five minutes she had me completely rethinking how I tie my dries—she knows her materials inside and out and has a way of explaining things that makes you feel instantly better at the craft."

Ben T.

"Kynslee ran our entire week on the Klickitat so smoothly that it felt like the lodge was powered by some kind of invisible engine—guides were dialed, meals were amazing, and every day she somehow anticipated what we needed before we ever said it."

Mark R.

"I’ve stayed at a lot of fishing lodges, but I’ve never seen anyone manage the whole operation with the kind of calm efficiency and genuine warmth that Kynslee does; she made the Klickitat feel like home and the fishing feel like an adventure."

Justin H.

"From the moment we checked in at Mount Adams Lodge, it was obvious Kynslee had everything under control—she coordinated the guides, handled the schedule, and kept the vibes high all week, making it one of the most organized and enjoyable fishing trips I’ve ever been part of."

Sara W.

"I called Red’s with a half‑baked idea for a steelhead pattern and Kynslee not only talked me through the materials, she explained why each one mattered, then built a whole order that arrived and tied up beautifully—honestly the best customer service I’ve had in fly tying."

Fishing Expertise

Fishing Expertise

KynsLee’s expertise spans a rare breadth of skills—spey casting, technical dry‑fly work, knot tying, fly tying, heavy‑equipment operation, fisheries knowledge, and years of guiding across multiple states. She has guided the Missouri, the Smith, much of western Montana, rivers in Oregon, and several waters in Washington, though the Klickitat River remains her favorite fishery. Her reputation as a patient, technically gifted instructor is well‑earned; she’s known for teaching spey mechanics with clarity, intuition, and a deep understanding of the physics behind the cast, a talent consistently reflected in client testimonials. Whether she’s swinging flies for summer steelhead or guiding anglers through small technical dry‑fly situations, she brings a thoughtful, detail‑oriented approach to the water—one shaped by decades of experience and a lifelong passion for fly fishing.

FISHING AND FAMILY.

FISHING AND FAMILY.

Away from the guiding season, KynsLee’s life is built around learning, movement, and conservation. She’s a trail runner, an avid reader, and a self‑described quantum‑physics nerd whose dream dinner guest is particle physicist Brian Cox. When she’s not on the oars or instructing, she spends time working to protect rivers through conservation efforts, feeding her belief that healthy water is the backbone of everything she loves—fishing, community, wildlife, and wild places. Her recreation is as eclectic as her skill set: she can run a chainsaw, pan for gold, and even write with both hands simultaneously.

At home in Ellensburg, she and her husband Ricky Bobbers—a permit‑obsessed angler and her favorite fishing partner—share life with Leo, the part‑bobcat rescue they found on the Klickitat near the Mount Adams Lodge. Her dream trip is beautifully simple: “one last fishing trip with my dad,” a nod to the moment that shaped her trajectory—watching him land a record Pacific blue marlin in Hawaii at age nine, a memory she still carries as the spark that led her into a life on the water. Family, wild fish, good people, and meaningful days outside remain the center of who she is, and those values show up in every trip she guides.
