How we rate used fly rods: (All rods include a tube unless otherwise noted)
5 – Like New. This rod will be nearly identical to a new rod. It may have cork that’s a little discolored but is about as worn as a rod off our display in shop that has been test casted a few times.
4 – Lightly Used. This is a rod that has a handful of days under its belt. It may have a discolored cork and may have some minor imperfections in the blank such as a small number of short, light blemishes.
3 – Excellent. This is a great looking rod. This rod has seen it's fair share of days over the course of a season. The cork could be a bit more worn in and the blank will likely have light blemishes from use in the field. There may be wear and tear on the reel seat and threads. There may be very small cracks in the epoxy, but would often take a magnifying glass to notice.
2 – Very Good. A well loved rod that has seen a few seasons on the water. The cork will be worn in on a rod like this. Small holes from missing filler in the cork are possible. The blank may have minor cosmetic blemishes and very few major blemishes. These rods are still fishable and have tons of life left.
1 – Good. A well-used rod. These rods have seen many seasons on the water. The cork will be very worn in. Expect missing cork filler. The blank will likely have many scratches and some could be quite deep or long. Expect some epoxy damage and/or bent guides. These are rods that are in good working order and aren't the prettiest, but get the job done.
Used Rod Return Policy
Red's wants you to purchase from our used rod inventory with confidence. Understand that these are USED rods that have been inspected and graded to the best of our ability. Please read below for specifics regarding returning a used rod. Please contact Red's Fly Shop prior to returning any used rod.
- You are purchasing a USED rod that is sold AS-IS. Beware: Most manufacturer warranties only cover the original purchaser. Any warranty repairs are solely at the discretion of the manufacturer. Red's assumes no liability in regards to used rods that may break or show defects. We do our best to inspect each rod and provide as accurate a rating as possible.
- Please fully visually inspect your rod upon arrival. If, for whatever reason, you are not satisfied with the rod received you can return the rod to Red's, at your expense, within 7 days of delivery. Rods returned in a condition other than what was received are not elidable for return. Please do not fish or cast the rod if you plan to return it. Used rods returned broken due to use will not be accepted under any circumstances.
