Maybe you want to try fly fishing.... but you prefer to do it with the girls. It's just so much fun that way! Plus you'll get the opportunity to connect with a community that can help you find success beyond the basics.
Our Women's Intro Program is headed up by several enthusiastic women, anxious to help you find success. They LOVE helping women become successful regardless of the activity.
Women's Intro to Fly Fishing Program
We believe learning to fly fish should be fun, simple, and affordable. Our instructors take a light hearted but genuinely invested approach to teaching all our courses, especially the women's intro class. If we don't make it fun and effective, the liklihood of that student finding success is essentially nill. It's important that we do a great job.
Beginning anglers are the lifeblood of our business and this motivates our team to take great care and pride in making sure your introduction to fly fishing is the best it can possibly be. While students are welcome to visit for a single day or weekend, these intro courses are only the first step in becoming a successful angler.
If you love the intro course, we encourage you to explore enrollment options in the Red's University of Fly Fishing where continuting education is the theme. Varying seasons, experiences, and disciplines will help you become a knowledable and skillful angler capable of traveling to new ecosystems throughout the west.
Will the Instructor(s) be Women?
Hopefully yes! Our goal is to cover all courses with capable female instructors but don't be surprised if one of the guys step into help with the bigger groups.
The Women's Intro courses are taught here at Red's Fly Shop along the banks of the Yakima River. These are land based courses so students don't need any of their own gear to participate, we have you covered. It's a comfortable environment with espresso available at check-in.
Our intro course has a strong emphasis on learning to fly cast. It's the most fun and some might even say addictive! You'll learn a bit about where trout live and how to tie on a fly.

The Naches River Divide and Conquer outing begins on the lawn at Bron Yr Aur Brewery in Naches with a casting refresher and strategy session. After an hour of casting and planning, the group will break up into informal groups of 2-4 women and head to the Naches River. Don't worry about coming as a single, we'll mix it up.
While these are not guided trips, there is a support network. Your coach will lay out the plan in the morning, and this program is designed to let women help women achieve success and create a sisterhood that can adventure, learn, and succeed together. You will need your own rod, reel, leader, and a couple of dry flies for this excursion.
