Tarpon Caye Lodge Belize

HOSTED BELIZE PERMIT FISHING TRIPS

Hosted Trip Dates to Tarpon Caye

Tarpon Caye is a small island about 8 acres in size. It is located 15 miles off the coast of Placencia in south-central Belize. The fishing program at Tarpon Caye is primarily Permit focused with miles of pristine flats that provide pretty consistent opportunities at tailing fish.

We are always hesitant to promote Permit fishing, because it is hard, no matter where you go! However, we all agree that Belize in general, and Tarpon Caye in particular, offer a special and unique experience to target this elusive species. In addition to the Permit fishing, anglers can expect shots at tarpon in the 5-25 lb range with larger fish seen nearly each week, and bonefish.

Traveling to Tarpon Caye Lodge

Tarpon Caye is an exclusive island, but easily reached via flights into Belize City on an International Flight. Belize is an English speaking country, so travelers are able to quickly navigate the airport and entry into the country is typically simple and efficient.

After landing in Belize City, anglers will then transfer onto a smaller flight with Tropic Air. These are prop driven planes seating about 10 passengers each. It gives you a wonderul aerial view of the gorgeous sand flats! You will land at the airstrip in the town of Placencia, then it is followed by a 30 minute boat transfer on the 35' Tarpon Caye Lodge transport boat. It's a great to see the country on your way to the fishing lodge.

The Red's Hosted Experience

The Red's Hosted Experience

A Red's team member will travel with you and help make your experience the most efficient, rewarding, and best adventure we can. We're there to aid the lodge in coordinating ground transfers, assigning guides, meeting angler expectations, and helping problem solve should any challenges arise. Your host will mentor as necessary, work with the lodge's head guide to coordinate guide pairings, and make group wide decisions that best serve all Red's customers.

Part of our role here is to insure that all anglers on the trip get access to the experienced guides, tides, and flats. When anglers show up at a destination for the first time as a single or even a pair and share the lodge with a mixed group of seasoned vets, it's hard to rest assured you are getting equal opportunities. Travel with Red's and that won't be a problem. Your host will work with the head guide to make sure that your trip is the best it can be.

Dream, Plan, Fish

Dream, Plan, Fish

This is primarily a Permit trip, so making good shot is critical to your success. We encourage anglers to practice with their gear in advance as conditions are often windy, flies heavy, and the ocean is pretty big. You'll also get action on Tarpon and Bonefish, so it's wise to have several rods.
