ASCENSION BAY FLIES & PACKING LIST

Ascension Bay is one of our most popular trips, and we outfit anglers traveling with other lodges every day at Red's. This collection is a few of our favorite rods, flies, leaders, and tackle for fly fishing in Ascension Bay.

It's a very diverse fishery offering shots at Permit, Bonefish, Tarpon, Snook, Barracuda, Jack Crevalle and more! For this reason you'll want a couple of rods with various leader configurations for the different species with a fly for that same fish. Baby Tarpon and Snook are best fished with 40# Shock Tippet, larger Tarpon should have 60#. Permit need 12-16# Fluorocarbon on a long leader, and Bonefish are 10-12# tippet on a lighter rod. Barracuda and Lemon Sharks are toothy critters, for those you will need some wire leader!
