Sculpzilla Streamer by Solitude // Essential Streamer Fly
Solitude's Sculpzilla Sculpin Streamer // Best Selling Trout Streamer
The best Sculpin pattern that we know about it. It is an articulated conehead head streamer that has red eyes, weighs quite a bit, and swims like its got a pulse. Use this to target bigger trout in rivers and you won't be disappointed. The hook is super high quality, and is a slick black coated hook with a short shank a nice gape to it. There are 2 sizes, the #4 is very heavy and features a large cone. The #8 is a lot lighter and smaller for slimmer water with less current. Make sure to get a few of each.Use the Olive, Tan, and White in situations with clear water and the Black and Yellow colors seem to work very well in conditions with off colored water. The Black is especially good in low light! Overall, the Olive is the best "all around" color scheme for most situations.
Sculpin are a common forage fish for large trout, bass, and other river dwelling fish almost all over the world. The Sculpzilla streamer is the best imitation that we have found for imitating Sculpin patterns. Typically fished on a sink tip and 0-2x Rio Fluoroflex Plus Tippet. Since these flies are heavily weighted, in high water flows from a drift boat we do fish Sculpzillas on a floating fly line as well. We like to strip retrieve these flies and swing them in a traditional wet fly manner as well depending on water temperature and the demeanor of the trout. This is also a top fly for fishing trophy Rainbows in Alaska as well.
