If we could only fish with a couple of flies, ha, this would be one of those couple. The X-Caddis dry fly is much more than it looks. Sometimes less is much, much more and this fly is a fish hooking machine. The trailing shuck, the high floating hair wing and the dubbed body all lend to a universally effective caddis pattern.
You can fish this fly as a dry, as an emerger, as a nymph for caddis, mayflies and small stoneflies. It can literally do it all. This is one of those flies a savvy angler buys in the dozens, knowing they can use them from the chalk streams of England to the spring creeks out west. They work everywhere.
