The Combi Vac Rac is the best fly rod and reel carrier for vehicles that we have found!This is the most popular magnetic rod carrier on the market for carrying your fishing rods on the top of your car, truck, or SUV. It uses a vacuum magnet system to temporarily attach the carrier to the roof and hood (2 parts, one for the reel end and the other holds rods near the tip about 3/4 of the way up). It will not scratch your paint and is super easy to use. The Combi Vac-rac offers convenience and affordability while securely transporting fishing rods and reels between spots on the river or up and down the beach. There are some other models out there, most are more expensive, but we wouldn't trust our Sage, Loomis, or Winston Fly Rods on anything else!How Fast Can I Drive?This part is up to you. The manufacturer recommends a top speed of about 50 mph, although our staff has put on thousands upon thousands of interstate miles with these racks loaded to the hilt and they have never had a problem, nor have we ever heard anyone report one of these coming off while driving. The only near incident was that one of our guides hit a Quail directly on the fly reels one time but the Combi hung on! Just had to pick some feathers out of the spool and it was good to go.
