Anglers traveling to British Columbia to fish steelhead are most often fishing spey rods and swinging flies. Very few anglers will ever nymph for fish single hand rods. These flies offer a mix of patterns that will have you covered from top to bottom (litterally) and everyone should be sure to have several skating flies in their box for low light. Anglers should focus their fly selection on black with variations in weight, and shades of blue and purple. It's critical to have a few weighted flies, and unweighted flies as well.
